Build a Discovery Set
A small library, chosen by nose
We started this because the way perfume gets sold online is broken. A glossy ad, a $120 bottle, and you find out three days later it doesn't work on your skin. We didn't want to add another store to that pile.
So everything in the library is here for one reason: someone on our team kept wearing it. We carry independent perfumers from Grasse and Mumbai, a few heritage houses we still love, and exactly zero celebrity launches.
"If we wouldn't reach for it ourselves, it doesn't get on the shelf."
The discovery set exists because we'd rather lose a sale than ship you a bottle you'll regret. Five decants, $48, credited back on your first full bottle. That's the deal.

Pick by mood, not by marketing
Most people don't shop fragrance by note pyramid. They shop by "what do I want to feel walking into this thing?" — so that's how we sorted it.

Fresh, citrus, aquatic
The 9-to-5 fragrances. Bergamot, neroli, marine accords — light enough that the meeting room doesn't smell like you ten minutes after you leave.

Oud, amber, deep musk
Saved for after sundown. Heavier, smokier, the kind of scent that lingers on a coat the next morning. Our small-batch oud lives here.

Floral-forward, recognizable
The bottle on the dresser you've worn every day for a year. Rose, peony, jasmine — composed so the people who know you, know you walked in.

Five decants, $48, no commitment
For the indecisive, the gift-givers, and anyone who's ever bought a $120 bottle they hated by Wednesday. Spend $48, get $48 back as credit when you pick.
Build Your Discovery Set →What people who actually bought it said
The discovery set was the smartest $48 I've spent on perfume. Tried five over a week. Picked the sandalwood-vanilla. Three months in, it's still the bottle on the dresser — and I got the discovery cost back as credit. That's how this should always work.Priya R. — Brooklyn, NY
The oud arrived in this little black box with a hand-written card explaining where it was distilled. I've ordered from three "luxury" sites this year. None of them did that.— Marcus T., Chicago
Bought my husband the Fresh cologne for his birthday. He's worn it every day since June and someone at his office finally asked him what it was. That was the goal, honestly.— Elena G., Austin
Returned an unopened bottle on day 12 because the floral wasn't sitting right on me. Refund hit my card in two days, no email tag, no "are you sure?" That alone earned the next order.— Devon K., Portland
Choosing a fragrance is personal — here's what people ask first
If your question isn't here, email orders@theperfumecart.com. We're usually quicker in the mornings.
Can I return a bottle if I don't like the scent?+
Unopened, yes — 14 days, full refund, no questions. Once a bottle is opened, we can't accept it back (regulation, not policy). That's why we push the Discovery Set so hard.
How does the Discovery Set credit work?+
Buy the $48 set, find a scent you love, and we apply $48 as credit toward your first full-size bottle from that house. Credit is automatic at checkout — you don't need a code.
Eau de parfum vs eau de toilette vs attar — what's the difference?+
EDP is 15-20% fragrance oil, lasts 6-8 hours. EDT is 5-15%, lighter, 3-5 hours. Attar is pure oil, alcohol-free, applied in tiny amounts — and lasts longest of the three. EDPs are our most-shipped category.
Is shipping really free?+
On full-size bottles to the lower 48, yes. Discovery sets and atomizers ship for $5 flat. Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico are calculated at checkout (usually $9-14).
Can I layer two of your fragrances?+
Yes, and we encourage it. The rose attar over the sandalwood-vanilla EDP is one of our most-asked pairings. If you want a layering recommendation for a specific bottle, email us — we'll send notes.
Do you do gift wrapping?+
Linen wrap with a hand-written card, $6 at checkout. Tell us what to write in the message field. We don't include receipts in gift orders unless you ask.
How long does shipping take?+
2-4 business days within the continental US, shipped from Minneapolis. We don't ship internationally yet — working on it.
Are your fragrances cruelty-free?+
Every house we carry is cruelty-free at the formulation stage. Three of them are also vegan; the rest use beeswax or trace musk. Each product page lists which is which.
